Chicago-based indie soul quintet JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, who describe themselves as “Otis Redding fronting The Stooges”, and who released their lastest album, Howl, in May via Bloodshot Records, performed at The Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto last night with Windsor-based Motown/rock band The Walkervilles, who will be performing at Hillside Festival later this month, and Toronto-based rock/soul/garage quartet The Mercy Now.
