Vancouver-based synthpop quintet and 2013 Polaris Prize shortlisters Young Galaxy, who released their fourth album, Ultrasubmarine, on April 23 via Paper Bag Records, performed at The Hoxton in Toronto last night with Toronto-based power pop band Alvvays, which features The Rankin Family’s Molly Rankin, former Two Hours Traffic vocalist/guitarist Alec O’Hanley and Danks drummer Phil MacIsaac, along with Kerri Maclellan and Brian Murphy, and who will release their Chad VanGaalen-produced, Graham Walsh (Holy Fuck) and John Agnello-mixed (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Kurt Vile) self-titled debut album sometime in 2014 via Hollerado’s label, Royal Mountain Records.
