New Music: Yukon Blonde – “Saturday Night”

Yukon Blonde’s JUNO Award-nominated breakout sophomore album Tiger Talk (2012) cemented its place in the contemporary indie pop landscape with hard-hitting choruses built on analogue synths and wiry guitars.

Working again with engineer and co-producer Colin Stewart (Dan Mangan + Blacksmith, New Pornographers, Black Mountain) at The Hive and mixer Tony Hoffer (M83, Beck, Foster the People, Depeche Mode) the band expands its reputation for uniquely crafted cocktails of psychedelic and synthetic sounds with the first taste of their upcoming album with the funk-laden “Saturday Night”, available on iTunes on March 23.

Yukon Blonde heads into SXSW this week and will join Lieutenant (Nate Mendel, bassist for Foo Fighters & Sunny Day Real Estate) on the road for a North American tour including a Toronto date on April 1 and early summer festival appearances in Ottawa and at Wayhome Music and Arts Festival.
