New Music: Watch Torres’ Heartfelt New Video For “Sprinter”

Torres (aka Mackenzie Scott) has released a new video for the title track of her sophomore album, Sprinter. Scott’s emotional grappling with her religious past is actualized through fabric snares and lava baths with lyrics that allude to the spastic barrier between institutionalized religion and personal salvation.

“This video is an origin story,” says director Casey Pierce. “It’s about the evolution of this earthly creature’s path through disillusionment and danger to a higher form with a broader understanding.” When watching the video for “Sprinter” it is both audibly and visibly clear that Scott’s journey is one of heartfelt complexity.

Recorded in Dorset, England, with performances from co-producer Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey) and Portishead’s Adrian Utley, Sprinter will be released on May 4th via Arts & Crafts in Canada, with a North American tour beginning next month (dates below).
