Preview: Electric Island Returns to Toronto with Art Department, Green Velvet, and More!

Electric Island’s third event of the summer kicks off this Civic Day weekend on Monday, August 3rd. Featuring hometown DJs Mike Gibbs, The Junkies and Art Department, American DJs  Green Velvet and DJ Three, French DJ Shiba San, and the Polish Robert Babicz. There is a lot to be excited for here.

First off there’s Shiba San, of Claude Von Stroke’s Dirtybird Record Label, with his iconic release “Okay” that took over dance floors last year. And with his background in hip-hop, his unique blend of ghetto house and deep house, and his fusion of ancient analog sounds with modern technology, he’s a can’t-miss artist.

Then you have Green Velvet, the Chicago house music veteran who has set Toronto dance floors ablaze for years including the Digital Dreams Festival and Corona Sunsets Festival (as DJ Cajmere) last year.

With Art Department, the Canadian deep house/techno duo who’ve toured the world with they’re label No19 Music, they bring sound that is unique and exciting enough to land them their own stage at Digital Dreams in 2014. Although Art Department is now primarily fronted by Johnny White solely due to a recent split, expect all the same energy and good vibes.
