Photos: The Killers Commemorate “Sam’s Town” with Decennial Extravaganza in Las Vegas

Photos by: Rob Loud –

On September 30th and October 1st, The Killers and fans took over the Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall in Las Vegas to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their sophomore album, Sam’s Town.  On both Friday and Saturday, fans gambled on Sam’s Town themed blackjack tables with custom chips and indulged in specialty meals and cocktails inspired by the band’s hits, all while listening to a curated playlist of Killers’ songs pumping throughout the hotel and casino for the two-day extravaganza. The crowd went wild and sang every word during The Killers’ dynamic live shows each night: an intimate two-song acoustic set poolside at sunset, followed later by a full performance of Sam’s Town, along with other hits from the band’s celebrated catalogue in the Sam’s Town Live! venue.

100% of the proceeds from the Extravaganza benefitted Las Vegas charities Toni’s House and First FridayFoundation, which support recovery for the homeless and those struggling with addiction and bring arts and culture initiatives to underserved communities.

Sam’s Town producer Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins) flew in for the festivities, which also included the opportunity for fans to dive into the band’s musical history with a two-hour bus tour of The Killers’ Las Vegas that wound through band members’ old haunts, locations of The Killers’ first shows and their Battle Born Studios headquarters.

The Killers’ vinyl re-issue of Sam’s Town will be available for purchase this Friday, October 7th via Bong Load Records. One of the two bonus tracks featured on the re-issue, the never before released Sam’s Town era demo “Peace of Mind,” will be available as a digital single on all digital stores and streaming partners on October 7th.
