Linkin Park member Mike Shinoda responded to news of bandmate Chester Bennington’s death via Twitter at 3:03pm today. “Shocked and heartbroken, but it’s true,” the tweet said. “An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.”

Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington has died at aged 41.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the singer hanged himself at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County. His body was discovered Thursday just before 9 AM.
The singer struggled with substance abuse issues for many years. Bennington was also close friends with Chris Cornell, who committed suicide in May.
Linkin Park has had a string of hits since their 2000 debut Hybrid Theory, including “Faint,” “In the End” “Crawling”, and their newest single “Talking to Myself”, which the band released today.
The band released their newest album, One More Light, on May 19th.
