Linkin Park paid tribute to their late lead singer Chester Bennington on social media in a touching open letter, which can be read in full below. “Our hearts are broken,” the letter posted on their official Facebook page read. “The shockwaves of grief and denial are still sweeping through our family as we come to grips with what has happened.”

Bennington died on July 20 at aged 41 after he hanged himself at his home in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County.

The band is uncertain of their future without Bennington, but says their love of making and performing music is “inextinguishable.” The band wrote, “While we don’t know what path our future may take, we know that each of our lives was made better by you. Thank you for that gift. We love you, and miss you so much.”

Linkin Park were scheduled to hit the road in the coming weeks for their “One More Light” North American tour, but has since cancelled the outing following Bennington’s death. The tour, which was set to kick off at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Mass. on July 27th, and run until October 2nd at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, will provide refunds to all fans who purchased tickets.

Linkin Park released their newest album, One More Light, on May 19th.

Dear Chester,

Our hearts are broken. The shockwaves of grief and denial are still sweeping through our family as we come to grips with what has happened.

You touched so many lives, maybe even more than you realized. In the past few days, we’ve seen an outpouring of love and support, both public and private, from around the world. Talinda and the family appreciate it, and want the world to know that you were the best husband, son, and father; the family will never be whole without you.

Talking with you about the years ahead together, your excitement was infectious. Your absence leaves a void that can never be filled—a boisterous, funny, ambitious, creative, kind, generous voice in the room is missing. We’re trying to remind ourselves that the demons who took you away from us were always part of the deal. After all, it was the way you sang about those demons that made everyone fall in love with you in the first place. You fearlessly put them on display, and in doing so, brought us together and taught us to be more human. You had the biggest heart, and managed to wear it on your sleeve.

Our love for making and performing music is inextinguishable. While we don’t know what path our future may take, we know that each of our lives was made better by you. Thank you for that gift. We love you, and miss you so much.

Until we see you again,

LP

All of Linkin parks songs are whining. .the people he touched need to grow up I’m glad he found rest. It was kind of annoying. And if someone is so troubled, why prolong their agony? I think it was a brave thing he did, not a pussy one. I feel for the people who miss him.

That being said : their purpose is was to make tons of money. Pop music events should never be mourned except in as much as they just made even more money from his death. It should be surprising that pop stars would want to co to us living that way for their ‘art’ , not that they kill themselves. We should celebrate that Chester finally came to his senses.

And that being said: the emotions of those close to him I do have sympathy for.
