Rising R&B star Kai Exos just released his brilliant self-titled EP. The collection includes six effervescent tracks that gloriously capture Exos’ neo-soul sound, and to celebrate the release, Exos curated an exclusive playlist for Aesthetic Magazine. Stream it below!
1. King’s Dead – Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, Future, James Blake
I’m all about All The Stars, but this less-popular record has rhymes and a closing chant that will send you further up.
2. Moon River – Frank Ocean
It’s heartwrenching. A kid like Joaquin “Guac” Oliver is gone because of something so fixable.
3. ATM – J. Cole
Why? Definitely not because of the video, but the bounce reminds me of Outkast so I’m here for it.
4. The Story of O.J. – JAY-Z
I know it’s like a year old, but still… lessons.
5. Going Once, Going Twice – BJ The Chicago Kid
The layers on this like, actually?! The multitrack tells more of the story the way he arranged it.
6. Cutting Ties – 6lack
Listen! Listen. I can’t even tell you the accuracy of this one for me as me. On repeat for days.
7. Man Down – Shakka f/ Aluna George
I’m writing this from London and issa vibe. Nice to hear some counter melodies on an island beat slash brit mix up ting.
8. Garden – SZA
SZA in any way is a good day, but a garden is even better.
9. Chun Li – Nicki Minaj
Feels like she finally answers 212 and everyone else with this one. It’s also perfect BPM for chopping vegetables.
10. Heaven Only Knows – Towkio
If you put this Playlist on repeat, I will know you love me.
