Son of Dave, the one-of-a-kind, international, well seasoned bluesman has released a video for his new Christmas song “Send Them Something Nice for Christmas”, which you can watch exclusively via Aesthetic Magazine below.
It’s beautiful. Unlike much of his usual harmonica driven howling and thumping good-time tunes, “Send Them Something Nice for Christmas” was written at the piano, with a melancholy longing for his Canadian homeland. But have no fear, there’s still a good bit of humour in it. “Forgive the son who moved away. Send me something nice for Christmas day”. A grand production (Martin Slattery) ensures proper amounts of seasonal reflection, and instead of the harmonica, S.o.D is playing a trumpet! There’s an undeniable Randy Newman quality about him when he sits at a piano. Perfect to stick in the Christmas playlist and return to each year.
