With the 61st Grammy Awards quickly approaching, music buffs are placing their bets on who will win the coveted Best New Artist award. And it’s an impressive lineup of new talent, to say the least — from Dua Lipa to H.E.R. to Luke Combs, it’s tough to predict who will take home one of the biggest awards of the night.
But when it comes to their popularity in Canada, the results are already in with the most popular artists nominated this year, based on how many Canadian Google searches each of them had from January through December 2018. The findings are impressive, to say the least.
Topping the list of the most searched artists in Canada is Dua Lipa, with nearly 95,000 searches. Meanwhile, Greta Van Fleet follows a bit behind, with over 71,000 Google searches during the same time period. Bebe Rexa is in third place, with just shy of 58,000 online searches. The results for all eight artists nominated in the Best New Artist category is provided in the below graph:

It will be interesting to see if the search volume of the respective artists has any correlation to who wins the Best New Artist Grammy on Sunday! But either way, one thing is clear: Canadians are keeping a close pulse on their favourite artists, as evidenced by their online search habits over the past year.
