Just when you think smartphone cameras can’t get any better, Huawei’s P30 Series rewrites the rules. With the new P30 Pro smartphone, you get a professional grade camera and a lot more for a competitive price.
Featuring Huawei’s signature quad camera system, the P30 Pro offers a staggering four camera setup including a 40MP primary camera, a 20MP ultra wide angle camera, an 8MP telephoto camera, and a Huawei ToF (Time of Flight) camera, that allows any user to get the best shots possible.
Price
Price-wise, the Huawei P30 Pro is on the more expensive side of things. Depending on specs, and carrier, the P30 Pro will run anywhere between $1,190 (128GB) and $1,315 (256GB) in Canada. And while it’s cheaper than the iPhone XS Max, the price point might be a turn-off for some users.
Design
Like many current gen smartphones, the P30 Pro doesn’t have a ton of grip on it, which may result in you dropping it more sans case. You’ve been warned.
In addition, as is now standard, which is either a great thing or a terrible thing depending on your stance, the P30 Pro doesn’t come with a headphone jack. Alternatively, there’s a pair of USB-C headphones included in the box, or you can charge up a pair of Bluetooth headphones and enjoy hours of music. Interestingly enough, the P30 model does have a headphone jack if it’s a dealbreaker for you.
Battery
Besides the awesome cameras, and classy design, the P30 Pro’s battery is nothing to sneeze at either. The phone features 40W Huawei SuperCharge, which allows you get a solid 70 percent charge in just 30 minutes, which is essential if you’re on the go.
How long a single charge lasts depends on your usage, but with the P30 Pro, you can usually get around 6-8 hours of screen-on time, and around two days of overall usage.
Verdict
With its DSLR-like camera system, long battery life, and sleek, classy design, the Huawei P30 Pro is the phone of the future. Despite its shortcomings in the form of the lack of a headphone jack, the P30 Pro is a step above its competitors in most, if not all, categories. If you’re in the market for a new smartphone, you’re missing out if you don’t give it a shot.
