Recap + Photos: Toronto Public Library’s Hush Hush gala raises $145,000

By: Curtis Sindrey –

Last Saturday (Oct 19th), the Toronto Reference Library hosted their seventh annual “Hush Hush” charity gala in support of the Toronto Public Library.

800 bookworms came together to support free access to all of the library’s life changing programs, services, top-notch collections, and resources as the event raised $145,000 to support one of Toronto’s most important cultural institutions.

Featuring delicious custom cocktails (vodka and lemonade anyone?) and mouthwatering eats including hand-made cavatelli bolognese, mini chocolate cakes, and more, guest danced the night away as they enjoyed various VR experiences including a Star Wars-themed game, and a terrifying experience where you walked the plank outside of a downtown skyscraper.

The music was eclectic (everything from Biggie to 00’s pop hits), the food was to die for, and the vibes were top-notch, and it will be very interesting to see how they can possibly top it in 2020.
