To celebrate the release of Chayce Kennedy’s new single “Mr. Super Fine”, the emerging Canadian pop artist curated a new Spotify playlist of emerging and established Canadian pop songs.
Jamie Fine – “If Anything’s Left”
I first discovered Jamie Fine on “The Launch”. On the show, she was in a duo with Elijah Woods and they were both incredible! I’ve followed her music ever since, as I love her voice – It’s so unique and powerful!
I have liked all of the songs that she’s released, but “If Anything’s Left” is my favourite so far!
Valley – “Like 1999”
I discovered Valley on an Apple Music playlist a while back and I absolutely love their songs – they are a pretty sweet band! I was so excited to learn that they are Canadian and based in Toronto!
All their songs are super groovy and pop sounding which I really like. Their musical vibe reminds me of Lauv. My favourite song they have released is “Like 1999” as I love the simplicity of the production. The vocals are super forward and they’re the main focus! Great song!
Carly Rae Jepsen – “Run Away with Me”
I have been a fan of Carly Rae Jepsen for as long as I can remember – I grew up listening to “Call Me Maybe”. She has perfect pop vibes and such a unique voice. When a song of hers comes on, you know right away it’s Carly Rae by her distinctive voice. I have also seen her in concert and she puts on a great show! Her song “Run Away With Me” is one of my favourites because of the saxophone – it is such a catchy riff and stays glued in my head! The chorus is sweet!
Ria Mae – “Bend”
This song is so good! Right from the beginning, it drives and is catchy. I love when the synth chords come in to add a bit of an old school twist. Throughout this tune, it never stops moving until the bridge and then starts building back up. The dynamics are great and my attention is never lost. Ria’s voice is also amazing! She is a very talented gal.
Lennon Stella – “Kissing Other People”
I first discovered Lennon Stella on the show “Nashville” and started following her on Instagram, where I’ve kept up with all of her music. Lennon has one of the most unique voices I have ever heard – her voice is everything. I frequently watch reels of her singing with a piano or guitar, and my oh my, it’s amazing. Every single song she has released I have been a fan of, but “Kissing Other People’ has been my fave so far.
Johnny Orlando – “Everybody Wants You”
Johnny Orlando is such a talented artist and is very successful for only being 20 years old. He has a unique, distinctive sound and whenever one of his songs come on, I know it’s him. I love how this particular song starts slow and then builds up to a bigger chorus that has a good beat. I also love electric guitar, so I loved how they added it in the chorus.
Tate McRae – “Greedy”
Tate McRae and Lennon Stella remind me of each other as they both have incredibly unique voices!
I have always been a fan of Tate and her songs, but her newest release “Greedy” is pretty great – and so catchy! I love bass in songs, and the drums that drive “Greedy” throughout are so good. I pump this in the car. Tate is just such a talented artist and I cannot wait to see what she releases next!
earth2zoe – “Lame”
I discovered earth2zoe just recently when I saw her song “Lame” at the top of a big Apple Music playlist, so then I listened and had it stuck in my head. It’s a very catchy tune. I also discovered that Ryan Stewart – who produced my new single, “Mr. Super Fine” – produced this song! I also found out the inspiration behind “Lame”, and it is quite the story. Boys, boys, boys…
Scott Helman – “Wait No More”
First of all, Scott’s voice is so pure. I love the tone of his vocals and the choices they made in the production of this mix to make his voice shine through. The drums that come in on the chorus are great! The beats are great and so groovy! It’s perfect for jamming in the car and turning the bass up!
I also discovered Scott on an Apple Music playlist a while back and have kept an eye out for his new releases. I also love his songs “Hang Ups” and “PDA”.
Kaeley Jade – “Years Ago”
I just discovered Kaeley Jade, and I love her vibe! Her vocal tone is so lovely to listen to. After listening to most of her songs, my favourite is ‘Years Ago’ as it was the song that stuck in my head. I found myself doing random things around the house humming the chorus – It’s catchy!
