Last night at History in Toronto, Franz Ferdinand delivered an electrifying performance that celebrated both their storied 00’s indie rock career and their recent album, The Human Fear. With their signature blend of art rock and danceable rhythms, the band embraced the energy of the packed crowd from the moment they took the stage. The Human Fear, their first album since 2018, showcases their evolution while staying true to the catchy hooks and sharp lyrics that have made them a beloved name. Live renditions of new tracks like “Night and Day” and “Hooked” made fans dance throughout the set alongside classic hits like “Take Me Out,” proving that the band’s vitality remains intact.

Supporting the iconic Scottish band was New York City’s own electro indie rock group, TeleScreens. They set the stage ablaze with their unique sound that mixes pulsating electronic beats with catchy pop melodies. Their high-energy performance engaged the audience immediately, with songs like “Phone Booth” and “Games”, which had lead singer Jackson Hamm running through the capacity crowd. Hamm captivated the crowd with his unique blend of charisma and brilliance, making them a fitting opener for such a distinguished headliner.

Both bands highlighted the essence of live music, interacting with the audience and creating a communal atmosphere that is often lacking in today’s concert experiences. Franz Ferdinand’s witty banter and playful stage presence, combined with TeleScreens’ vibrant energy, made for an unforgettable evening. The diverse instrumental voyage, from Franz Ferdinand’s sharp guitars to TeleScreens’ synth-driven soundscapes, showcased a delightful musical journey, ensuring that every moment felt vibrant and alive.

As the night progressed, the energy in the venue reached a fever pitch, culminating in a powerful encore that had the audience roaring for more. The celebration of music reverberated in every corner of History as Franz Ferdinand wrapped up with their iconic anthem “This Fire,” the crowd was left buzzing.
