The celebration of 30 years of Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx and Mobb Deep’s The Infamous at History in Toronto last night (Dec. 2nd) was an unforgettable experience that truly honoured the legacy of these legendary albums.

From the moment the two legendary MCs took the stage, the energy in the room was electric, filled with fans eager to celebrate two of the most influential works in hip-hop history.

Raekwon’s performance was a masterclass in storytelling and lyricism, capturing the gritty, cinematic essence of his 1995 debut album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. His stage presence was commanding, and he delivered classic tracks with the authenticity and passion that made the album a cornerstone of east coast hip-hop.

Interspersed throughout the set was rapper Havoc of iconic 90’s hip-hop duo Mobb Deep, who brought forward his raw, abrasive sound that defined a generation. Havoc’s lyrical genius, and minimalistic production style, along with the late Prodigy (who died in 2017), created an atmosphere that transported everyone back to the 90s, and reminded us why The Infamous remains a seminal work.

The crowd was hooked from the first track and they danced and rapped along to every hook and verse that created a communal vibe. Overall, this night was a testament to the enduring legacy of Raekwon and Mobb Deep, and the two of the most iconic albums in hip-hop history. It was more than just a concert; it was a cultural milestone that reminded us of the power of hip-hop to tell stories, build communities, and inspire generations. For anyone who loves hip-hop, this celebration was a perfect reminder of why these albums are timeless classics, and it reaffirmed the importance of honoring the pioneers who shaped the genre. This night was a beautiful homage to 30 years of artistic excellence, leaving everyone inspired and grateful for the music that continues to influence and define hip-hop culture.
