With the Boston Calling Music Festival happening this week, fans are sure to witness some fantastic bands over the course of this bi-annual, three-day festival at City Hall Plaza in downtown Boston from September 5 to 7. With an already stacked line-up that includes Lorde, Girl Talk, Spoon, The Replacements, Nas, and more, that are ready to captivate concert-goers, here’s a list of five acts that you can’t miss.

The National

This GRAMMY-nominated indie-rock group has been around since 1999. With dark and intriguing lyrics and sound, fans are sure to see a haunting,set from the group. The utter of the lyrics from lead singer Matt Berninger and the melodic sound from the band provide a very eerie and interesting experience.

Childish Gambino

Rising hip-hop star Childish Gambino has been topping the charts with hits like “3000” and his collaboration with Chance the Rapper, “Favorite Song.” After receiving many stellar reviews for his festival performances this summer, he is one of the most promising aritsts to see this weekend.

Bleachers

Created after the whirlwind success of GRAMMY-winning pop group fun., guitarist Jack Antonoff’s side-project Bleachers, who is best known for their hit “I Wanna Get Better”, has created a alt rock sound that is far distant from Antonoff’s day job. Just don’t expect there to be a singalong to “We Are Young”.
