Day one of the sixth annual Beau’s Oktoberfest at Vankleek Hill in Ottawa featured performances by the Joel Plaskett Emergency, who released their fifth album, Scrappy Happiness, on March 27th, 2012, which was was named as a longlisted nominee for the 2012 Polaris Music Prize, Toronto-based indie rock trio The Rural Alberta Advantage, who released their third album, Mended with Gold, on September 30th, 2014, Montreal-based orchestral indie pop band Groenland, who released their debut album, The Chase, on April 16th, 2013 via Bonsound, and Toronto-based indie rock band Zeus, who released their third album, Classic Zeus, on September 2nd, 2014 via Arts & Crafts.

I saw you there. Great shots… but “Beau’s Oktoberfest at Vankleek Hill in Ottawa” is slightly bent. Vankleek Hill is a village of 1800 people, kind of near Ottawa. Actually we’re about one hour East… we’re also one hour West of Montreal, and an hour North-ish of Cornwall. That makes us the centre of one of the largest concentration of Canadians in the world. Which is cool, because we put on a lot of concerts and events to keep them all occupied… actually, we have at least four annual events that bring more than 10,000 people to town. Come back and check them out… we’re cool like that.
