Festival Preview: 4 Can’t Miss Bands at Life Is Beautiful 2014

The Life is Beautiful festival returns for its second year in downtown Las Vegas this weekend, with a line-up that includes, Kanye West, Outkast, and Foo Fighters. With over 30,000 people expected to attend each day of the festival, it’s projected to provide Las Vegas with boosted revenue of $20 million.

Recognized for the artists, muralists, and musicians that grace Fremont Street during the three-day festival, what sets LIB aside from other popular music festivals is the culinary lineup. Well-known and established chefs and bakers will showcase their talents in “Culinary Village”, which has been split into four different parts this year to create a “more blended experience.”

With a stellar lineup featuring performances from Las Vegas Philharmonic and Cirque du Soleil LOVE and a range ofmusical genres, LIB has something for everyone. If you’re planning to attend the festival, here are four artists that you can’t miss.

Phantogram

Widely recognized for their hit “Fall in Love” from their new album, Voices, Phantogram have been mainstays on the festival circuit this year and have garnered new fans as a result With a live band supporting the electronic alternative duo of Sara Barthel and Josh Carter, Phantogram provides audiences with a technicolor experience. “Phantogram” is taken from a type of optical illusion, which is a fitting name for this band that clearly utilizes the freedom of visuals and a cinematic live music experience. Whether you know every song word for word or you just want to catch “that one band that sings that one song on the radio”, you will groove, you will dance, and you will enjoy.

Foo Fighters

With a brand new album, Sonic Highways (out Nov. 10th via RCA), and their brand new single ‘The Feast and The Famine’, Dave Grohl and co. are establishing a comeback in the realm of rock. After quietly playing select festivals this summer, Foo Fighters have climbed back to the top, where they’ve flourished for over a decade.

The Weeknd

Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, has been an R&B phenomenon since 2010. After thriving on Youtube, and since the release of his series of critically acclaimed mixtapes in 2011, followed up by his wildly successful 2013 debut album, Kiss Land, Tesfaye’s soothing voice and sensual lyrics have taken the R&B world by storm and recently led him to duet with uprising pop star Ariana Grande with the instantly famed hit, “Love Me Harder.” Seeing him this weekend will make you a believer.

Alt-J
 _____________________________________________________________________________________

Alt-J have established themselves as a band to watch in the indie rock world. After their hit “Breezeblocks” adorned every rock and alt station in the country,  and after winning the 2012 Mercury Prize, the electronic and psychedelic folk quartet was deemed for success. Their album, An Awesome Wave, has been streamed more than 200 million times on Spotify and has sold over one million copies worldwide. It earned many “album of the year awards” and gained heaps of recognition. The clarity of their grungy guitar and melodic lyrics are sure to captivate you this weekend.
