Pop diva Rihanna, who was scheduled to performed at Allianz Stadium in Nice, France on July 15th, canceled the event following the tragic Bastille Day terror attack, when a truck driver rammed his vehicle into a massive crowd and fired a pistol several times before being killed by police.
The concert was apart of the singer’s ongoing Anti World Tour. Her next performance is scheduled for Sunday in Frankfurt, Germany.
Rihanna later announced the cancellation in an Instagram post, sharing, “Our thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
On Thursday, a man drove a large truck through a crowd of people who had gathered to celebrate Bastille Day. The driver, who was fatally shot by police, reportedly had guns and explosives inside the vehicle, according to CNN.
President Obama condemned the attack while expressing support for the victims and their families.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and other loved ones of those killed, and we wish a full recovery for the many wounded,” Obama said in a statement. “We stand in solidarity and partnership with France, our oldest ally, as they respond to and recover from this attack.”
