Rising folk-rock artist VISSIA’s debut single “I Wanted”, the first taste from her forthcoming LP, Place Holder, out later this fall, is a song that hits a universal nerve of doubt and anxiety.
“I Never wanted to be blue / But what else can I do / But sit here waiting for you / To let me down,” sings Vissia as the vocals swirl in an unchanging whirlpool of being stuck in a self-imposed reality where clarity and change seem like opportunities gone by.
Recorded and co-produced by Emily Bachynski at BitterNorth Studio (Edmonton, AB), and mixed by Sam Kassirer (Josh Ritter, Lake Street Dive, Del Barber, The David Wax Museum), “I Wanted” shows Vissia’s growth as an artist since the release her newest EP, You Should Be Sleeping, earlier this summer, and has sparked significant interest in what comes next for one of Canada’s most promising singer-songwriters.
