Exclusive Premiere: Stream New City’s New Single “Getting Closer”

By: Staff –

New City.

New City.

The young and provocative music of Toronto trio New City — Adrian Mitchell (vocals), Jed Webster (guitar, programming) and Nathan Brown (drums, programming) — is a much-needed sonic jolt of joy.

The band are unapologetic about their pursuit of a good time with their electro party pop songs like the aspirational “Coachella,” naughty “Dirty Secrets” and anthemic “While We’re Young” perfectly soundtrack the carefree spirit of today’s generation.

Their latest track “Getting Closer” is a declaration of empowerment for anyone else who is working towards their dreams. Stream the track exclusively on Aesthetic Magazine below.

The three of us have vastly different influences and styles,” says the trio. “Blending our musical brains often results in a variety of sounds, as it’s never just one guy writing lyrics. We all contribute on every part of the process – from the drum parts, to the vocals, to the mix. Our new single, “Getting Closer,” is about breaking yourself down and putting everything on the table, but still feeling lost. It reflects on the ways in which we’ve found ourselves as a band, and our ability to talk about bigger topics. We initially wrote about our wants and desires, but our writing is beginning to reflect our purpose and what we’re looking for in the future.”
