Rising Toronto-based singer-songwriter Angela Saini is back with her new video for her brand new wistful yet optimistic new single “My Once Upon a Time”, which you can watch exclusively via Aesthetic Magazine below.
“My Once Upon a Time” is about reaching into the past to define the present,” says Saini. The music video pays tribute to silent movies of the past in the style of Charlie Chaplin, with Angela playing three distinct characters with the carefree, merry spirit associated with childhood.“The song came about while talking about the memories of being a teenager,” Saini continues. “Growing up in Calgary, I started a rock band in high school, idolizing my favorite bands and wanting to be a rock star. Just as a city changes over time, so does the individual, but you are still left with beautiful memories; no one can take those away from you. Even though I moved away, I’m still that person. I haven’t changed, just my experiences and circumstance. I’ve grown outward and onward, but I’m still that girl who used to drive around with Hope on the Stereo.”
Saini is all about second chances and empowering others. Her ability to combine humanistic and honest themes laden with catchy hooks and memorable melodies make her entertaining as well as relatable. With two European and five Canadian tours under her belt, the songstress is most known for her sunshine-soaked song “Living on the Bright Side” shows her more vulnerable side with new album “Hope on the Stereo.” Exploring themes of hope and fear, and the shades in between, still bring out her uplifting outlook on life, but through a different lens, choosing to reveal the cracks and vulnerabilities that lie beneath the surface. It also features her production skills as she partnered with co-producer Guillermo Subauste and recorded some of it in her home studio.
