NXNE Announces 2019 Lineup

By: Staff –

NXNE returns this June with more curators, more club shows, and an expanded festival village that will include four stages for live performances. 2019’s club land and festival village will offer audiences a diverse slate of globally recognized and emerging hip-hop, indie rock and pop acts at over 20 of the top music venues in Toronto. NXNE will kick off the 10 day festival on June 7th with a jam-packed schedule of live musical acts that will ignite the spirit of summer in the city.

NXNE Club Land will continue to offer programming that represents the diverse communities of Toronto through its Curator Series and other notable shows. It will feature shows programmed by leading Canadian musicians that highlight emerging artist showcases, art installations, late night DJ sets and after parties, all in the city’s most cherished venues. The Curator Series aims to encourage music fans of all genres to club hop across the city and witness their favourite artists transform the showcase experience. A low price wristband secures priority admission to all shows. Wristbands are priced at 1995 prices, $29, the same as in NXNE’s first year, and allows fans access to over 30 shows.

NXNE welcomes back past curators including; Brendan Canning (Broken Social Scene), The Elwins, Dan Burke, Ian Blurton; while also introducing new curators like Charlotte Cornfield, DJ Shub, Raptors Uprising, Royal Mountain Records, Taiwan Beats, Blue Crane Agency, Wavelength, Vox Future, Night Owl Festival, Lisbon Lux, Double Denim, Matt Sandrin and Heavy Trip.

Featured Club Land acts include: hip hop artist Haviah Mighty as well as experimental music performance group Persons, acoustic rocker Owen, punk infused hip hop Just John x Dom Dias and new age musician Nick Schofield.  Indie act Most People, pop artist Syngja and fierce punk band Dishpit will all be a part of the CLUB LAND experience.

In addition to NXNE’s Club Land Curator Series, highlight shows will include indie emo rock band American Football supported by alternative bedroom-pop act Ellis as well as an All Ages show with Chicago based rapper Cupcakke at The Phoenix Concert Theatre.

A $29 wristband gets people access into all the CLUB LAND shows. Wristbands can be purchased online at nxne.com

This year, in honour of its 25th anniversary year, NXNE expands its Festival Village (June 14 – 16) to span over half-a-kilometre, packed with free entertainment, activations and more. This year’s festival will include four stages for all festival goers to enjoy for free throughout the festival including newly added Queen St. Stage.

We’re proud and pumped to continue to connect audiences and emerging artists for 25 years,” says Michael Hollett, President & Managing Director, NXNE. “So much about music as an industry and an art form has changed in the last quarter century. But the satisfying intimacy of unlocking new musical experiences for audiences — and finding new, passionate listeners for artists — never changes. NXNE continues to grow and develop along with music and the music fans that are so fundamental to everything we are.”
