Rapper and producer JPEGMAFIA has shared his first solo single since his acclaimed breakthrough album Veteran titled “Jesus Forgive Me, I Am A Thot,” out now on EQT Recordings. The video, directed by Andrew Mcglennon, shows Peggy taunting his haters and reflecting on his successes against a majestic mountain backdrop, interlaced with darker and lighter moments. As a minimalist production with only a few shots throughout its entirety, the video highlights the energy that is showcased in not only the song but also his live performance.
“It’s nice to have something out that’s more me,” says JEPGMAFIA. “I hiked five fucking hours for this fucking shoot. Five. fucking hours. If anybody doesn’t like it then fuck you. I hiked five hours. I don’t care. It’s beautiful, it’s elegant, and it doesn’t have to force you into keeping your attention. I just wanted something that was able to be suspenseful without forcing it. This video is just me existing. I wanted you to be moved by what’s going on. And if not, then fuck you. I hiked five hours.”
The song comes with the announce of his new headline tour, ‘JPEGMAFIA Type Tour,’ starting October 14th and ending with two shows in his beloved city of Baltimore. Over the past year, Peggy has been heralded as a “national treasure” by Billboard, “a force to be reckoned with” by The FADER and a “visionary” by the Los Angeles Times while having some of the most captivating live performances at major festivals. Watch the video for “Jesus Forgive Me, I Am a Thot” below and catch JPEG on tour soon.
