In a new feature to Aesthetic Magazine, we are proud to announce that we are the new presenting partner for Toronto-based film podcast Contra Zoom. Your host, Dakota Arsenault, goes in depth about everything film; from lists, to reviews, and more!
In a brand new episode, Dakota interviews Carol Nguyen, a Toronto filmmaker who is having her latest short film No Crying at the Dinner Table premiere at TIFF 2019, where they discuss dealing with family trauma, representation in cinema and getting to screen her film in front of family and friends.
The second interview features Craig Prater, President of Heartland Film, a non-profit organization who has previously screened Carol’s films. Craig talks about his passion for short films and their filmmakers, how his organization selects films to screen at their own festival and what does visiting a film festival look like business wise.
Listen to Contra Zoom on Anchor, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and RadioPublic!
