Toronto-based pop-rock artist Bee is back with her new 2000s pop-punk inspired single. “Feelings”, which you can stream exclusively via Aesthetic Magazine below.
“I wrote this song as a reminder to myself to slow down and stay grounded when emotions get intense,” said Bex. “Emotions are subjective and our reactions might not always appear to make sense. This song is about trying to become more self-aware, something I’ve been working on this past year.”
Written during the first few months of lockdown, Bex‘s latest single “Feelings” is the result of a self-directed challenge to write one song everyday throughout the month of April 2020. Stemming from a horoscope which read “feelings are not facts”, Bex used the sentence as a catalyst to dive deep into the complicated world of emotions and how things aren’t always how they appear to be. After fine-tuning the song through multiple virtual performances, “Feelings” came to represent the perpetual therapeutic process of becoming more self-aware and present in life’s most challenging moments.
Bex is a Brock University Arts and Culture graduate with an undeniable passion for writing and performing music. Her mission is to connect with her listeners and remind them that no matter what they are feeling, they are not alone. Her advanced, relatable lyrics and musicality have set her apart, and her new single, “Feelings” will be sure to delight her current and soon-to-be fans, alike.
Indie pop songstress Rebecca Madamba, aka BEX, was raised on an apple orchard in the small town of Colborne, Ontario. BEX received an acoustic guitar from her family at age 17 and began to play and write for fun. Although her Graduate studies took her into the field of Art and Photography, by 2014 BEX made the decision to follow her dreams and pursue music. BEX has performed acoustic shows at popular venues across Toronto including Free Times Café, C’est What, and the Painted Lady. She has also been featured in local showcases for Canadian Music Week Festival (2021), Queen West Art Crawl (2018 and 2021) and RAW Artist Festival (2019) in Toronto. In the summer of 2020, she was selected as a Top 10 Finalist in the Toronto Deputy Mayors Online Talent Search for an acoustic performance of her single “Supergirl”, and since then has focused on live performances and connecting with her fan base virtually, through music streaming platforms such as Volume. BEX is ready to take off with her first full-length album, Star Trails, produced in Toronto by James McLeod. Her mixed sound of Indie pop sprinkled with a bit of folk/rock/punk, packaged in a modern electronic production, reveals influences from some of her favourite artists including Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne, and LIGHTS. Many of the album’s songs were written during the first few months of lockdown in 2020 when time and space opened for BEX to focus on her craft.
