Montreal-born alternative hip-hop artist Shades Lawrence is back with her new basketball-inspired video for “Infinite”, which can be watched exclusively via Aesthetic Magazine below.
Lawrence provides insight to a personal passion with “Infinite,” elaborating that she strived to capture [her] love for the game of basketball, and experiences playing Division I College Basketball in the United States. That love endures through every season of the year.”
A pure lyricist, Lawrence’s style can be described as alternative hip hop. Her words uplift, while keeping environmental justice at the forefront.
Shades comes out of a tradition of spoken word. She has shared the stage with a variety of artists, including Big Freedia and Princess Nokia.
She has also performed at 40+ shows as a spoken word poet and hip hop artist.
Shades has three EPs released, Formidable Time EP (2017), Second Life EP (2019), and Mind Right EP (2019). Second Life was featured on Bandcamp’s home page in their New & Notable section. Additionally, she has released two full-length albums, East West Road (2020), and 4th Quarter (2021).
