Soul-funk-rock n’ roll artist Talia Keys is back with her new album, Lessons, which can be streamed exclusively via Aesthetic Magazine below.
As the title suggests, it’s an introduction to Keys’ noteworthy music with a message and story that is told throughout.
Lessons boasts of 7 songs that evolve as one listens to the whole album. The first few songs lead the way as Keys intertwines her classic Blues-laced-Rock, which is heavily based in the story with the lyrics.
Songs like “Ain’t Got Time for This” “Head Up” “Born in the Light” all have catchy melodies and lyrics with infectious hooks which lead into the deeper dive of the record.
Standout single “Head Up,” is explosive from start to finish which helps to set the tone for the release. It’s bright and vibrant nature dives into a jam session filled with Rock and Blues chops that will have you craving more.
Keys is a foot-stomping, jaw-dropping soul-funk-rock n’ roll heavy hitting artist. Advocating for human rights Keys uses her music to convey a message of growth, awareness, and love. Promoting compassion and respect for our Earth and one another Keys brings a message within every song.
Without a doubt, Keys gives us tunes and lyrics that keep us coming back for more. The songs are incredibly interesting as the music builds the story of the lyrics. These songs also have a deeper, almost heavier, meaning to them.
About the album, Keys said, “Inspiration strikes me in many different situations. Sometimes it’s in the desert with no one around, other times it’s when people join together to fight for a common cause. Feelings of loss, isolation and belonging. Feelings of hope, happiness and determination.”
Keys continues, “My album Lessons became just that. A lesson. A reflection on the times we were living through and a premonition of what we were about to. I wrote these songs leading up to the pandemic/lockdown. Having recorded them with my band March 7th and 8th 2020, we didn’t realize that on March 10th, everything was about to change. Slowly over lockdowns, zoom rehearsals, masks and vaccines we were able to finish the record.”
Keys concluded, “My band is an incredible group of people, Lisa G on Backup Vox, Dave Brogan on Drums and Percussion, Ryan Conger on Keys, Piano, Synths and Josh Olsen on Bass. They each bring their hearts and musicality to these songs. We also have special guests Omega Horns to really bring it to another level, arranged by Trombonist Marcus Anderson.”
Already a favorite release for 2022, Talia Key’s Lessons is out via all digital outlets today.
