To celebrate the release of Emi Jeen’s new single “No Emotion = No Tomorrow”, the emerging Montreal-based singer-songwriter curated an exclusive Spotify playlist featuring some of her favourite songs, along with tracks that inspired her new single. Stream it below.

PVRIS – “You and I

I’m obsessed with PVRIS lately and especially with the intensity and buildup of this song. I really like both the lyrics and instrumentation of their work. It’s definitely my current favorite artist to listen to. I often put this one on repeat.

Ms. Lauryn Hill – “Ex-Factor

It’s the first ever album I ever bought with the booklet to follow and sing along. Her voice is so soothing and her music is timeless.

Avril Lavigne – “Sk8er Boi

Avril is such an icon when it comes to pop-punk-rock and inspired my latest track “No Emotion = No Tomorrow”. It brings me back to this trip I did with my friend around Nova Scotia, we kept playing her album Let Go and couldn’t play anything else. I also love her latest project she just released!

Blink-182 – “The Rock Show”

This band is definitely part of my youth. You can’t go wrong with some old school Blink-182. I like the theme of this song. “finding love at a rock show”, isn’t it the perfect love story?

Simple Plan – “I’d Do Anything”

I saw this band’s journey evolve throughout the years since they are also from the Montreal, Canada area. I discovered them at the Vans Warped Tour and became a fan of their work since then.

Nirvana – “Come As You Are”

So when I was younger, three types of music were played in the house. My mom’s music (Celine Dion, Mariah Carey), my brother’s music (Nirvana, Metallica) and mine (Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera). I became a fan of all these different genres and they are still a huge part of my identity as an artist. Nirvana is such a classic for me and reminds me of the nights I spent with my brother and cousins chilling in the basement and listening to music.

Alanis Morissette – “Ironic”

Alanis is such an amazing artist and this song is just so powerful. The catchy chorus is everything! I used to be amazed by this music video playing on MTV. You can feel the fun she had playing all different sides of herself and how natural she truly is on camera. Such a creative and simple video.

Imogen Heap – “Hide and Seek”

This song is so intense and emotional and truly captivating. When I first heard this song, I was totally amazed on how just vocals can be so powerful on their own. It gives me goosebumps every time. When I take a flight I like to just look at the sky out of my window and wonder..

Metallica – “The Unforgiven”

I’m a huge fan of Metallica and this song is one of my favorites. I love the musicality of their work and this one is especially so emotional. This song is very personal to the singer, James Hetfield, and you can definitely feel his pain while listening to it.
