To celebrate the release of dwi’s new track “Party4One“, the Vancouver-based artist (and bassist for The Zolas) curated a brand new exclusive Spotify playlist called “Songs That Shaped Me (Into The Creature I Am)”. Stream it exclusively via Aesthetic Magazine below.
dwi – “Party4One”
Tried to write a love song but ended up writing this.
Radiohead – “Idioteque”
Loved this song so much in high school that I made a shirt that said idioteque on it. No one understood what it meant except one person. We’re still best friends to this day.
The Beatles – “Blue Jay Way”
This song was my first psychedelic trip…pretty amazing that before experimenting with drugs, Music could really, like I mean really, take you places. I find it so inspiring that this whole song is basically one chord.
Grandaddy – “The Crystal Lake”
Before streaming services I relied on a satellite radio TV channel. I would leave this one alternative station on just to hear this song maybe twice a day.
Danny Brown – “Ain’t It Funny”
This song gets me hyper instantly. Pure magical insanity.
Gorillaz – “Empire Ants”
Every section of this song is outstanding. Little Dragon shine so hard on this track. The bass line should be on a best of all time list or something. It’s much better than the bass line from “Longview”.
The Voidz – “QYURRYUS”
I kinda wrote this record off when it came out in 2018. I’m not asleep anymore. I listen to this song almost daily.
Grandaddy – “Charts and Graphs”
I’ve wanted to cover this song in every band I’ve ever been in. Fuck, I should probably just do it.
Interpol – “Obstacle 1”
When I heard this song for the first time I thought it was The Tragically Hip haha. I wrote soo many songs trying to sound like Interpol when I discovered Turn On The Bright Lights. Turns out only he sounds good singing like that.
Bjork – “Come To Me”
I don’t even know what to say about this song…It just changed me. She is a goddess to me. Is she even real?
Radiohead – “Climbing Up The Walls”
Timeless band. Timeless album (OK Computer). Timeless song.
