Emerging Canadian country-rock singer-songwriter Devin Cooper is back with an inspiring new video for his new single “Underdog”. Watch it exclusively via Aesthetic Magazine below.
Available everywhere today (Sept. 2), the new anthemic single “Underdog” kicks off the next chapter of Cooper’s journey, previewing what is to come from the celebrated singer-songwriter.
Bringing the song’s theme to life, the music video for “Underdog” was shot just west of Cooper’s hometown of Calgary, and contains visuals that underscore the rallying messages of encouragement and perseverance that “Underdog” sets out to bring to the listener.
As the son of a motorcycle shop owner and custom car builder, Cooper’s childhood was filled with opportunities to be creative. Upon exchanging his toolkit for a guitar, Cooper found an unmistakable niche, reimagining the soul of Southern Rock and down home country. The result is a genre-bending, driven young artist with a world of possibilities. With the soul of Johnny Cash and the chops of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Cooper’s thoughtful songwriting and thundering live show will leave audiences wanting more. His perfected vocal sneer is full of attitude and delivers on the promise. Off stage, Devin’s energy is unfiltered positivity and humility – an incredible asset for any musician with ambition.
Cooper broke out onto the Canadian country music scene with his first single “No Chasing You,” released in September 2017 to numerous local accolades. Shortly thereafter, he was nominated for Male Artist and Songwriter of the Year (YYC Music Awards); and was the winner of Artist of the Year (Red Deer Entertainment Awards). Since 2018, Cooper has performed alongside some of North America’s top talent including, Brett Kissel, Aaron Pritchett, Jade Eagleson, Gord Bamford, and Lou Gramm of Foreigner and has played multiple sold-out headlining slots in Calgary at venues like the King Eddy. In 2020, Cooper released his next single “Last Time Last” with the help of JUNO Award-winning producers, Spencer Cheyne and Justin Kudding. Continuing the momentum, earlier in 2022, Cooper was named as a semi-finalist in the SiriusXM Top of the Country contest and released his most latest single “Back Pocket,” which is currently climbing the Canadian Radio charts and can be found on his debut album, Good Things, which was released in March 2022.
