YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, CA was quite literally on fire last night for Killswitch Engage and Lamb of God. Killswitch, as usual, brought the hammer with their insane energy, humor (thanks to lead guitarist and backup vocalist Adam Dutkiewicz) and grateful attitude to simply do what they love. Their fan appreciation is off the charts and you could feel it last night as the audience sang along to hits like “The End of Heartache,” “Holy Diver” and “In Due Time.” They closed the set out with previous singer Howard Jones back for a show stopping final song, “The Signal Fire.”

Next up was the much anticipated, Lamb of God. This show comes only one week after the release of their 9th studio album, Omens, which was released on October 7th. Their pyro-filled performance lit the Theater while lead singer Randy Blythe leaped from drum kit to platform with superhero-like perfection. The tone of the show was set by the 2nd song as you feel of the roar of the crowd, the bass in your feet, and heat in the room when they played “Walk With Me In Hell;” just pure metal at it’s finest. In honor of the new album, songs like title track “Omens” and “Nevermore” were huge hits while classics like “Laid to Rest” and “Omerta” were simply epic! What can I say, there’s just something about hearing a packed theater recite an oath in unison that does it for me. But finally, they closed the show with one of my personal favorites off the album “Sacrament,” yep “Redneck.” Both Killswitch Engage and Lamb of God slayed last night, reminding us all (dare we forget) exactly what a metal show is supposed to feel like.
