To celebrate the release of Alora Farenweh’s latest single “Riding a Tiger”, the emerging Canadian singer-songwriter curated a brand new Spotify playlist, which you can stream below.
Owl City – “Fireflies”
I love this song because it tells a unique story. As a child I enjoyed Owl City songs (I barely knew any other music at that age) and now as a teen I see how much his music is like mine. The sparkling creatures flying around and around a boy’s room… I suppose that’s what inspires me in my lyric writing. The strange stories and concepts in movies, shows and songs ect.
SHAED – “Trampoline”
Again, the STORY in this is amazing! The beats and vocals melding together in rhythm. Speaking of a dream, lost in the thoughts of another world…
Chloe Moriondo – “Little Moth”
Such a cute song written by Chloe, one of my favourite artists for her aesthetic and her songs (I think my favourite song is “The Girl On Tv”)!
Sóley – “Kill the Clown”
By far one of my favorite artists ever! She is incredible with her haunting songs and visuals, she tells some of the best stories. I love her music and I cannot express that enough! My Dad discovered her on a plane to Iceland and we embraced the music as soon as we laid ears on it. We played her songs throughout our journey in Europe, driving through mountains and next to goats, we always make sure to bring her music along.
AURORA – “Black Water Lilies”
This artist makes sounds for the dreamers in this world. The ones that like to float off in imagination and thoughts. “Black Water Lilies” is a beautiful song. I also love her other songs: “Running With The Wolves”, “Queendom” and well, pretty much all of them.
Alec Benjamin – “Boy in the Bubble”
The rhythm of the song, and the lyrics are fantastic.
Fleurie – “Sirens”
A wondrous song to float along to. Fleurie is an amazing artist with the ability to create cinematic sounds as well as more indie pop. Another personal influencer for my music.
Melanie Martinez – “Cake”
This song has a wondrous upbeat sound and it’s just plain fun! Melanie uses unique noises in her songs to create interesting atmospheres that match what the music speaks about. I really like that about her sound.
Salem Ilese – “Mad at Disney”
A fantastic song, it feels a bit lo-fi, and the sweet/savage story brings it all together with Salem’s vocals.
Billie Eilish – “you should see me in a crown”
Her music is like the dark side of mine, I love the sounds and vocals of this song. Billie is definitely one of my favorite artists. (as you can see, I have quite a few…)
