I chose this photo for many reasons, the least of which is the emotion captured during this song of Sarah Barthel’s stance and face. The overall cool, mono chromatic tones and the repeat of patterns constantly keeps the viewer’s eye looking at various aspects of the photo again and again.

I am a sucker for warm, earthy and golden tones. Anytime that those colours can come together to accent and not overpower a concert, that is a winning combination. This photo captures those tones but also captures a some serious country stomping.

Artist: Walk Off The Earth
Venue: Riverfest Elora
City: Elora, ON
Date: August 19
Photographer: Orest Dorosh

I truly enjoy the frozen moment in time that Orest captured in Sarah Blackwood’s pose. Her emotion and energy is so intense that at any moment you expect her arms to move down, her hair to flip back and the smoke in the background start drifting past the stage.

The subtlies of a black and white tonal photo sometimes are more powerful than a colour photo. Brandon was able to capture that in this great profile photo of Rozonda Thomas.

Venue: 102.1 The Edge
City: Toronto

There was something about how the back-lighting and the reflective light on Peter Dreimanis’ face personified his intense nature when in concert. What is seen is visually exciting while what is darkened and not seen is even more powerful to the overall wholeness of the image. I like it.
