Chance the Rapper, and an impressive list of features, manages to wrap up his third mixtape, Coloring Book, with this smooth track. With “Blessings”, he manages to turn down the speed, lighten the bass, but leaves you wanting to hit repeat.

Song: “Freedom (feat. Kendrick Lamar)”
Artist: Beyonce
Album: Lemonade
Label: Parkwood/Columbia

Released: April 23

Beyonce’s sixth studio album, Lemonade, was an absolute knock-out. Each track oozes raw talent and grit that we see over and over with this artist. However, the song Freedom featuring Kendrick Lamar is so strikingly poignant the vocals, bass, and lyrics will send shivers down your spine.

Song: “Ultralight Beam (Feat. Chance The Rapper, Kirk Franklin, Kelly Price, The-Dream)”
Artist: Kanye West
Album: The Life of Pablo

The gospel fueled track introduces Kanye’s seventh studio album, The Life of Pablo. It speaks for itself; the sharp lyrics throughout empowered by the bluesy choir give this track its earned spot in my top five songs of 2016.
