Song: “Nobody Speak (feat. Run The Jewels)”
Artist: DJ Shadow
Album: The Mountain Will Fall
Label: Mass Appeal
Released: April 16

Mixing the fluid DJ stylings of DJ Shadow with the raucous and rough lyrical style of Run The Jewels’ Killer Mike and El-P is true magic to my ears. A mashup of my childhood favorite (DJ Shadow) with my current favourite hip-hop duo is a must listen to start my day.

Song: “Broccoli”
Artist: D.R.A.M
Album: Big Baby D.R.A.M

D.R.A.M took my headphones by storm in 2016 with his smash hit “Broccoli” and his almost humorous take on the hip hop game.

Song: “Right Here”
Artist: Dave B
Label: Independent
Released: July 15

Dave B is a well known Seattle hip-hop artist who just happened to drop his latest album on my birthday, July 15th. With a stage presence to get everyone from the front row to the rafters on their feet, his more mellow form of hip-hop can either get me moving or slow me down. He’s the soundtrack to whatever day I’m having, a true musical chameleon in a sense.

Song: “Purple Lamborghini”
Artist: Skrillex and Rick Ross
Album: Suicide Squad: The Album
Label: Atlantic
Released: July 22

Americas most well-known DJ Skrillex and Florida’s most notorious cocaine pusher turned rapper Rick Ross come together on of all things a movie soundtrack. This song was a true banger of 2016 and gave a honest one song perspective to the movie Suicide Squad.

Song: California kids
Artist: Weezer
Album: Weezer (The White Album)
Label: Atlantic/Crush
Released: April 1

The first track from their 11th album became a radio hit immediately which was no real surprise to anyone.
Weezer’s poppy sound is simply ear candy to the masses and I’m as susceptible to their spell as anyone. having been a Weezer fan since their debut album, its always a treat to see such amazing artists always consistently producing great songs.
