Coachella’s last two-night lineup was frontloaded with a gobsmacking, can’t-miss array of artists who have not been on the bill since. They included a reunited Depeche Mode, Tool, Daft Punk, Massive Attack and yes, Madonna. By 2006, not only had Bonnaroo (its only real competition) moved away from its Phish/Allman Brothers aesthetic, but Lollapalooza had also been resurrected, in the same, 3-day format. To feature a lineup this unique and bombastic pretty much solidified its place at the top of the heap.
Reunited and it feels so good: Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Digable Planets
Future BFD (Big Fucking Deal): Phoenix, OneRepublic, Imogen Heap
Canada represent: Metric, The Dears
