Coachella’s problem in 2015 is every other festival’s problem: the same lineup. Nearly verbatim. From WayHome to Lollapalooza to Bonnaroo, there are too many similarities. Almost every summer festival features: St. Vincent, Run The Jewels, Tame Impala, Alt-J, Florence and the Machine, the Decemberists, Bassnectar, and The War on Drugs. Those are some crazy good bands, but if every lineup has them, they do not make a unique festival. Then there’s the matter of why a festival with its own H&M fashion line would book Steely Dan and AC/DC as two of its biggest draws. Predictions: Drake’s headlining slot features so many cameos, it makes OVO look like a one-man show.
