By 2005, Coachella was riding high on a reputation of its own creation, which meant two monster headliners and a headline-grabbing supporting cast. Coldplay was the biggest band in the world at the time, but even their fame paled in comparison of the news of Nine Inch Nails’ return, which would be one of their first shows back after five years. The lineup also featured the return of Mos Def and Talib Kweli as Black Star, Bauhaus, New Order and Gang of Four. Also, some buzzed-about Montreal weirdos called Arcade Fire.
